You rub your eyes. Raise your head a little, confused. What the hell happened ? You take a look at the man behind you. Half naked. Weird boxer. Kinda old. You have an awful taste in your mouth, and your apartment fucking smells tobacco. Looks like you had a great party. You sigh. Cassie always knew how to gather people. Still sleepy, you stand up, take the mugs to the sink. Too lazy to wash them. You walk to the bathroom, take a quick shower. What are you going to wear ? Well, obviously not just underwears, especially the ugly ones. But you’ll move a lot while looking for her, so your outfits better be comfortable. Like, uh, sport clothes ? But do you even have some ? Ugh. Wrapped in your towel, your dripping hair stuck in your face, you rummage around your closet. You’re pretty sure you still have some clothes from a sport photoshoot, but damn, where the hell did you put them ?

You yawn. You open an eye, try to take a look at your watch. Oh, right, you don’t have any. Where are you already ? In a couch, wearing nothing but underwears. Great. And you didn’t even drink. You sigh. Slowly stand up. You can hear the shower dying out, make some steps to reach the bathroom. And here she is, going out like a tornado, a towel desperatley trying to cover her skin. You turn your head, embarrassed. She’s looking for something, tilted on her closet, a position that makes you really uncomfortable. Like, why does she have to tilt that much ? I mean, it didn’t disturb you when it was your wife, but this girl is like… Another daughter ? A best friend ? A support. Not sure yet, kinda weird anyway. You cough a little to make her realize you’re here. Even though she might know it. Werewolf stuff, you know ? « I’m going to shower. Do you have any clothes for me or should I use the old ones ? » Well, yours probably don’t stink too much, but you’d rather wear washed clothes. And you’re not sure you have the time to wash and dry them.

You hear some steps coming to you. Don’t even move. They stop right behind you, and you hold back a smile. You can smell his embarrassment and guess his face is slowly turning red. He coughs, just in case you didn’t notice him. « I know you’re here, » you sigh. « Hang on. » You keep looking in your closet for a few seconds, finally find them. You sensually stand up, face him, your towel pressed against your naked body, sport clothes in your hand. Raise an eyebrow, stare at his right shoulder. He got a tattoo with a name in it. Thing you didn’t notice when you woke up. Maybe because you were kinda woozy. Anyway. « Who the hell is Indio ? »

You sigh. Exactly the kind of stuff you wanted to avoid. Perfect. « It’s none of your business, young lady. » Like, it ain’t even a secret. It just hurts more than you’d like to admit. She can smell feelings, right ? So she can smell that you’re really done with this shit right now and that you need a fuckin shower. So you start walking to get into the bathroom.

Ugh, he seems upset. But not against yourself, though. Bad memories, right ? Great, you have plenty of them to share. You hold his arm as he walks away. « Hold on, old man. You tell me, I tell you. And trust me, I have way more much than you to share. Plus, you can’t resist me, » you add with a smile. Not that he would fall in love with you, more in the way that he knows, without even know why, that he can trust you. And just speak. And you know it ‘cause you feel the same damn way.

You roll your eyes. Well, she’s not wrong. And maybe then she’ll leave you. Plus, you really want to know her. « FINE, » you sigh, irritated. « Long story short, my older brother got killed on a mission. I tried to get revenge, the FBI caught me and offered me to stop the guy who did it, plus a job if he was alive. Turned out I eventually didn’t kill him, so I got the job. And a tattoo. » Yeah, pretty much. « Happy now ? »

You stare at him, surprised. « I don’t know. I thought you were the good guy, » you blow, frowned eyebrows. Like, you thought he was a pure angel or something like that. That you didn’t deserve somebody that great in your life. But he’s as messed up as you. That’s… weird. But that also means there’s still a lot you don’t know, though. Yet. Interesting.

« Who said I wasn’t ? » you ask with a sad smile. It’s not a black and white world. You can kill and still be a good person. It just depends on your motivations. And goals. Well, of a lot of things actually. But you never saw yourself as the bad guy. You always thought you were doing it for good reasons. Anyway. Pretty sure you didn’t want to remember this right now. Better keep your mind focused on something else. « So, what about my clothes ? »

Oh. Right. Seems pretty obvious to him. « Does it mean I can also be considered as a good person ? » you softly ask. Rhetorical question. Of course you cannot. You’re a bitch, remember. And when he’ll know how cruel you are, he’ll be feared. Right ? Maybe not. Worth the risk, probably. Anyway, he looks sad again. Great. You’re good at making people feel bad, what a wonderful talent ! « Oh, right, sorry. I might still have some clothes from my dates. Go take a shower, I’ll bring them. The clothes, not the dates, » you add with a little smile.

You nod, quickly shower. When you step out the bathroom, some clothes are waiting for you. You put them on and get to the sitting room. She’s waiting there, with two cups of tea. And she’s wearing clothes, amen. She raises her head when you arrive, makes some place on the sofa so you can sit with her. She seems really nervous. You gently pat her head. « Your turn, I guess. »

« Right. Right, » you say with a forced smile. Take a deep breath. « Well, long story short, I got kinda bullied by my parents for… I don’t know, my whole life. They were hitting me, shouting at me because I wasn’t how they expected me to be. Even though I tried really hard to be the perfect girl, » you sighed. « Anyway. Uh, when I was, eighteen I guess ? A werewolf came into my room, I asked him to make me one of them. Or maybe he did it by himself, I don’t remember clearly. So, when I turned into a wolf, I kinda lost control, or maybe I entirely had it, I don’t know which is worse. But in both cases, I killed my parents. Happy ending. »

Well. « You got your revenge too. In a bloodier way than I did, but I can understand. You shouldn’t blame yourself. » And you can’t judge her either. You wouldn’t allow yourself. She went through a lot of hard things and somehow, managed to survive all this stuff and kind of set herself free. Which is pretty impressing. So yeah, she’s fuckin badass. « But did that help you ? »

« I don’t know, » you laugh, holding back your tears. « I mean, yeah, I’m really glad they don’t physically exist anymore. But they left their prints on me and I can’t run away from this. I tried so hard not looking like them, but every time I speak, every time I do something, it reminds me of them. I ended up like them. And that’s horrifying. I’m a fucking bastard, Earl, » you murmur. You let yourself fall on his arm, crying like the kid you never were. « I hate myself, » you sob.

She’s crying on your torso. Her life is a mess. You hug her as tough as you can. « Hey. Come on. » You slowly raise her head, wipe her tears with your hands. Have a little smile. « You’re not a bastard. You’re a wonderful woman and from now, you’ll bitch for yourself. Alright ? »
